Wheelbarrow Volume Increaser™
Fall Cleanup
The Wheelbarrow Volume Increaser™ adds up to 14 cu.ft. to the volume carrying capacity of a wheelbarrow. Most home owners have a wheelbarrow that range from 5 to 6cu.ft. in capacity, so that the total volume using the WVI™ would be 19 to 20cu.ft. Because of the nature of the material (light and bulky) being hauled, the load is easily compressed, so your load will be ± 30cu.ft.
Using a 6cu.ft. wheelbarrow and a king size bed sheet for testing purposes we found that: 5 to 6 wheelbarrow loads or 3 to 4 bed sheet loads will be equal to 1 WVI™ load.
Let’s say that your dump site is 50 yards away, then a round trip would be 100 yards. To clean up the leaves this fall you might have 20 loads with the WVI™ for a total travel of 2000 yards (1.13 miles). Doing the same clean up using a regular 6 cu.ft. wheelbarrow you would have 100 loads for a total travel of 10,000 yards (5.68 miles). It gets better if you use a bed sheet. It would be only 60 loads for a total travel of 6,000 yards (3.40 miles). Don’t forget that you have to carry the bed sheet over your shoulder like a sack.
The average walking speed is 2.5 mph. Pushing a wheelbarrow might bring it down to 2 mph. Using 2 mph as the standard, when using the WVI you have 35 min. of walking, using a 6cuft wheelbarrow you have 2hr. 50 min. of walking and using a bed sheet you have 1hr. 45min. of walking.
The piles of leaves show above (L-R) are from:
Wheelbarrow Volume Increaser, King-size bed sheet and 6 cu.ft wheelbarrow.
